CAS Gateway Firmware Upgrade Instructions
Firmware Update Instructions for a CAS Gateway Device
This article provides step-by-step instructions for upgrading the firmware on a CAS Gateway device using Chipkin’s CAS Gateway AutoUpdate tool. The process is typically performed on a local network, where your PC and the CAS Gateway are connected to the same network segment so the tool can discover the device and transfer the firmware file.
If you are updating firmware as part of troubleshooting, commissioning, or scheduled maintenance, it is recommended to plan the update for a suitable maintenance window. A firmware update may take a few minutes to complete, and the device may reboot at the end of the process.
Before You Start
- You will need a PC connected to the same network as the CAS Gateway.
- You will need the CAS Gateway AutoUpdate tool installed on your PC.
- You will need the correct firmware file for your CAS Gateway.
- Ensure network connectivity (for example, confirm the CAS Gateway Ethernet port link light is illuminated).
Important: Use only firmware provided by CAS/Chipkin for your specific device and purpose. Do not upload other firmware files unless explicitly instructed to do so by Chipkin Automation Systems support.

Network Notes
The AutoUpdate tool uses UDP port 20034. If discovery or updating does not work as expected, confirm that your PC and the CAS Gateway are on the same network and that UDP port 20034 is permitted on your network path (for example, firewall rules).
If you have any problems, please contact Chipkin Automation Support for assistance.
