Intro to Protec Cirrus Hybrid & ProPoint Plus Protocol Integration
Chipkin’s Protec serial driver provides a proven, production-ready integration for Protec Cirrus Hybrid and ProPoint Plus fire detection panels. The solution is already deployed and field-tested—allowing integrators and distributors to offer BACnet and multi-protocol connectivity with minimal effort and no changes to the Protec panels.
Using a FieldServer or QuickServer gateway, the driver captures real-time fire and fault events, polls operational data, and supports standard panel commands over RS-485. A single gateway can monitor multiple Protec panels on a multidrop trunk, making it easy to add centralized monitoring without redesigning the fire system.
A protocol gateway will be an active client in communications with the Protec panels over RS-485. The data read from Protec is cached for serving via a 2nd protocol such as BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, SNMP, DNP3, and many more. Any of the 140+ protocols in the FieldServer driver library may be connected to the Protec driver.
This driver supports auto-configuration: connect the panels, restart the gateway, and the gateway will discover the panels and begin monitoring. A rudimentary web page is provided for testing and diagnostics.
QuickServers for Protec Cirrus Hybrid & ProPoint Plus Protocol
The Protec QuickServer (QS) is a high-performance protocol gateway designed to integrate Protec Cirrus Hybrid and ProPoint Plus fire detection panels with building automation and enterprise systems.
The gateway connects directly to Protec panels over RS-485 and supports multiple panels. Data is automatically discovered, normalized, and made available to upstream protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, OPC UA, and others.

Dual-Ethernet Port QuickServer: Protec Cirrus Hybrid & ProPoint Plus
The Dual Ethernet Port QuickServer is designed for projects requiring higher performance, enhanced security, and network segmentation. It supports larger point counts (up to 10,000 points, model dependent) and provides two independent Ethernet interfaces for flexible system architectures.
The dual-port design allows the gateway to bridge OT and IT networks or separate building systems across different subnets while maintaining clear network boundaries and minimizing security exposure.
